Today we recognize our college graduates. Whether they have plans to move away or to stay around Morgantown, we hope that they will continue to follow where God leads them and they will make disciples wherever they go. Congratulations and we look forward to seeing how you will continue to serve God in your lives!
Easter Sunday is March 27, 2016. We will have a joint sunrise service at Dorsey’s Knob and then have breakfast at New Hill Church (Mountainview Elementary) following the service. Our morning worship will be at regular the time – 10:30am. We hope you will join us in celebrating Jesus’ sacrifice for us!
Once again, we have arrived at the Lenten Season during which we both remember and celebrate the perfect life, atoning death, victorious resurrection, and glorious ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This year, we would like to invite you to another series of Lenten Services at which we, all the Goshen Association Churches, can remember and celebrate this together!
Over a five-week period, beginning Sunday, February 21st and running through Sunday, March 20th, we will be coming together each Sunday afternoon beginning at 3pm to sing, pray, and study God’s Word. This year, we will be focusing on ‘Conversations Leading to the Cross’ – Conversations that Jesus had with different individuals over the final hours of His life from which He revealed the beautiful truths about both Himself and His redeeming work on the Cross. The ‘Conversations’ we will be focusing on include:
- Jesus’ conversation with those who arrested Him
- Jesus’ conversation with the Father
- Jesus’ conversation with Caiaphas and the Council
- Jesus’ conversation with Pilate
- Jesus’ conversation with the thief on the cross
Each service will begin at 3pm and will be followed by a time of light refreshments provided by the host church. Below is a schedule of dates, speakers, texts, and locations for our times together. Hope you can join us as we come to both remember and celebrate together the beautiful gospel of Jesus Christ!
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)
Sunday was the commissioning of our first deacons. These individuals were nominated and tested by the elders, and were brought before the church to be prayed over. To determine the qualifications of deacons we use the example found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. The following are the selected deacons and their responsibilities:
Dan Hardesty – Small Groups
Jared Drvar – Grounds
Karissa Skiba – Finances
Elise Sullivan – Children’s Ministries
Wes Casto – Media & Technology
For more information about deacons or how to help in any of the areas of ministry, please contact us.
We will be doing a six week study of the book of Jonah starting February 21. The series will be titled “Salvation Belongs to the Lord”. We hope you will join us for this upcoming series!
Tonight we filled shoeboxes for kids at Marjorie Gardens. These shoeboxes are powerful tools for evangelism and fellowship that can transform the lives of children and their families through the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you again to everyone who helped!
Did you know that you can build a shoebox anytime of the year on the Samaritan’s Purse website?
